Company Profile

W.A.Browne was formed in January 1979 by the coming together of Bill Browne, Whitney Sadler and Godfrey Linfoot in an attempt to raise subcontracting within the building industry to a professional level.

Commencing with one operative on site, Bill based himself in the office and was later joined by his good friend and colleague, Bob Tookey. Bob Tookey later retired from W.A.Browne (Building Services) Limted on the 30th April 2007.

W.A.Browne was soon operating on the majority of prime residential developments in the North East and by January 1990, W.A.Browne had moved from a one-room office to a 40,000-foot facility currently employing some 280 people. The Residential drylining market has been the core business of the company since its beginning, growing to become one of the largest drylining firms in the country. We operate in the North East of England for the majority of the national house builders, as well as a number of local house builders.

Throughout the mid 1980’s, W.A.Browne earned a reputation for quality and performance which led it to being nominated for several large drywall packages throughout the Broadgate development in London. These projects won the company several awards for quality, performance and innovation that projected W.A.Browne into a position of one of the most sought after drywall contractors in the country.

As the boom of the 1980’s approached its peak W.A.Browne realised that this market could not last forever and so decided to plan ahead, looking at new ventures for the future. One of these ventures being EIFS (External Insulation Finishes System).
